About Fanlistings

I'm pretty sure that if you're here, you know what a fanlisting is and what it hopes to accomplish. If not, it's time to crawl out from under that rock and join the rest of the world. <grin>

A fanlisting is similar to an online clique, except that you don't need a website to join. You just have to be a fan of something. Period. A fanlisting hopes to bring together and list the fans from all over the world of a certain celebrity, movie, song, concept, or other random thing. You can check 'em all out over at thefanlistings.org.

Why October?

Why did I choose to make a fanlisting for October instead of another month, say, November when my birthday is? Simply put, I love the month of October! I always have, for many reasons. The earliest reason is because Halloween has always been my favorite holiday, especially when I was little.

As I grew up, I came to love the beautiful colors of the autumn season as the leaves change, and most of that takes place during the month of October. In addition, living in the southern United States, the summer season is extremely hot and humid, often it's almost unbearable. October is when it finally starts to cool off and become comfortable again.

The biggest reason that I love October so much now happened on October 15, 2001. I got married! That seemed to tie everything I love about the month together for me. We went on our honeymoon to the Smokey Mountains and I vividly remember the gorgeous fall colors. I remember the wonderful weather. We adopted one of our cats, Boo, near the end of October of 2002. She's a solid black Bombay and represents both the month and the holiday very well. The month of October just seems magical to me and I thought this great month deserved a fanlisting of its own to celebrate.

About Magical Month

I was approved for the October fanlisting on July 27, 2004 and opened it on August 19, 2004. (I was delayed because an emergency appendectomy kept me in the bed and away from the computer for a while -- yuck!) It was moved from my old domain, RebelDreams, to Purrspectives on February 15, 2004. The graphics were made using Jasc Paint Shop Pro 8, and other programs used in building this site include Notepad and WS_FTP. The fonts used in this layout are Liorah BT and 04B_03 for the graphics and Georgia for the body text.

The site's idea, content, layout, and graphics are all © 2004 - 2005 to Andrea Toone. Don't steal my graphics, my layout, or my code, k?

Last but not least, this site is dedicated to my wonderful husband, Jason. I've always loved the month of October, but he has made it even more special to me because of our wedding and the fact that we now take our vacations in October. I wouldn't want to start or run this fanlisting if it wasn't for him. :-) Yeah, it's sappy, I know. But it's my fanlisting and I can make it all mushy and sappy if I want to. <grin>
